I first started writing here when my family was uprooting and moving our life across the country, from Ohio to Washington. The space went through a few iterations, stopped and started as I figured out what I wanted to say and who I wanted to amplify. At it’s most popular, I was juggling multiple contributors, interviewing and writing original content, and connecting with some lovely people. I’m really proud of that. And that momentum could have certainly built up and out, but it wasn’t what I wanted. It’s not where I wanted my focus to be, it’s not how I wanted to spend my free moments, and I didn’t have a clear vision for where I wanted it to go. So I slowed down, stepped back, focused elsewhere.
Now that we’re uprooting again, it seems as good a time as any to jump back in. There’s certainly no shortage of things to think about and write about – we’re navigating life and relationships while moving, during a pandemic and civil rights movement. We’re homeschooling, and working remotely, and building a house. Also, there’s a pretty big election coming up.
It’s all very – exciting.
